How to Make a "Bananatrode"
Psalm 147:5
"Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite."
Just imagine a scientist going to the supermarket where he picks up a banana, an antenna from a blue crab, and a whisker from a catfish. He takes these back to his lab, hooks them together and...

The Origin of Life

Author:
Ian Taylor

1. Throughout history there have always been those who believe that life began on earth by supernatural creation and others who prefer to stick with the naturalistic explanation that life began spontaneously by chance events from non-living matter. The first view, the biblical view, is called biogenesis meaning that life can only come from pre-existing life. The second view is usually ascribed to Aristotle and is referred to as abiogenesis.

Genesis and Family Values

Author:
Pastor Paul A. Bartz

The breakdown of family values all around us ultimately can't be blamed on television, rap music, or the mythological greenhouse effect.

Society has gotten so lawless that lawlessness has become a "freedom" and even a virtue. The very foundation of society has broken down. And what's the basis of society?

Geology and Genesis

Author:
Ian Taylor

Charles LyellJust how does the modern geologist tell the age of a rock by simply looking at it? For that matter, where do all those millions of years come from and how can they be reconciled with Genesis? Until the 17th century most people of Europe and Britain believed the biblical account of creation and a global Flood.

The Pre-Flood World, Parts 1 & 2

Author:
Ian Taylor

1. The Fall of man took place in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve had been created in perfection in a perfect world; they were physically perfect and quickly becoming full of God's wisdom. There were three kinds of tree in the Garden: trees to provide food, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life. Satan tempted Eve where she was most vunerable: pride. He offered the opportunity for Adam and Eve to obtain wisdom without having to go to God each time; they would thus be independant.

Laying the Foundation for the Family

Author:
Pastor Steven T. Cook

Read Psalm 127. We find God's description of the proper family attitudes, in these verses. As we go through it verse by verse, we will see how this compares to what the world is trying to get us to accept.

In verse one, the true foundation of any successful enterprise is found, whether it be the home or the city. Who/what is it? Jesus Christ uses much the same concept in His teaching in Matthew 7:24-27 (which read). Before going on, consider if you are building on the proper foundation.

Turn to I Cor. 3:10-15. In which ways does this passage apply to the subject of the family?

[9]This is also a serious objection to the Day-Age Theory.

[10]10. The Bible states that the sun, moon, and stars were not created until the fourth day - three days after the formation of the earth (Gen. 1:14-19). In an attempt to retain the essentially evolutionary cosmology of the sun and stars before the earth, Scofield claims that the sun and moon were created in the beginning. The light of Gen. 1:3-4 came from the sun, but a heavy cloud cover obscured the sky for the first three days (Scofield Reference Bible, p. 3). This interpretation is clearly forced and is against the obvious sense of Gen. 1:14-11) that the heavenly bodies were not in existence until that time. For a discussion of the problem of light before the sun, see the author's article "Biblical Indications of a Rotating Earth," Bible-Science Newsletter (December 1980), pp. 1-3.

[11]There is a disagreement over whether the waters peaked at the 40th or at the 150th day.

Evolutionism Was Prophesied

Author:
Robin D. Fish.

Darwinism was originally found so acceptable by so many because it provided the mechanism for evolution, so men could understand all that exists as not needing a Creator. Today, however, Darwinism is all but dead, killed by the lack of positive evidence, and by the growth of human knowledge in dozens of areas. Still, evolutionism persists. Evolution is called a "fact" even if we can see no way it could have happened. This irrational position seems surprising until one realizes that evolutionism was prophesied.

Evidence of God's Planning

Author:
Pastor Robin D. Fish.

Remember the early science-fiction movies? They always had a moral to the story. Usually one of the main characters would recite it in the closing in moments of the film. The moral always went something like, "There are certain areas where man is not meant to meddle."

Why was Cain a "tiller of the ground"?

Following God's very last act of creation – that is, the creation of Eve on the first Friday evening – He blessed both Adam and Eve, then gave them their mandate: "Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth. I have given you every herb that yields seed ... every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food… Also to every beast, etc... I have given every green herb for food (Genesis 1:28-30).

There is an old joke about a novice archaeologist who was terribly disappointed when professional archaeologists refused to accept the authenticity of a coin he had found. He could not understand why the coin, bearing the date of “125 B.C.,” was considered a hoax.

Is it true that skeletal remains of humans have been found that would put them as much as 12-13 feet

The King James translation speaks of there being "giants in the land" in the pre-Flood and immediate post-Flood world (Genesis 6:4 and Joshua 12:13). Medieval churches often had fossil bones on display, purporting to be part of some ancient giant and, in this way, sustain belief among their congregation.

Compromise and the Faith

Ian Taylor1. The discovery of the colored peoples by the Caucasian Christian West in the 16th century caused some to doubt that the Genesis Flood had been universal since the only family on the Ark were surely Caucasion! Later, at the time of the Industrial Revolution and during the search for coal and minerals, it was realized that rocks appeared in layers or stratum, each of different composition from those layers above and below.

Goal: The goal of this study is:
1. To show how the Genesis creation account presents knowledge about the universe (science) which is far ahead of much of human knowledge (science); and

2. to build within the student of the Bible an appreciation for the scientific accuracy of Genesis where it does touch on such matters.

Science In Genesis One

We often hear that the Bible is "not a book of science." In the sense that one would not use Holy Scripture as a laboratory guide to dissect a frog, this is true. Yet the Bible is the necessary preface or introduction for any course on science (as well as every other area of life). We can see this illustrated as we examine the science in Genesis Chapter one.

Psalm 8:4 asks, “What, then, is man, that Thou art mindful of him?”  This Psalm is a wealth of information about who and what man is and his place in the creation. Let’s take a look at it.

Many people associate the study of science with evolution. For this reason they think that science is unbiblical or even evil, but is this really the case?

Is Work a Necessary Evil?

More than one Christian has pictured heaven as a place where the saved will lie about all day, perhaps strumming a harp while sitting on a cloud.  Many, at least, see heaven as one big permanent vacation.  But could we really be happy with nothing to do—forever?  Does the Bible portray work as a necessary evil which is a result of sin entering the world?
