The Body's Incredible Healing Powers
Mark 2:17
"When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners...
God has given your body incredible powers of healing and repair, and you could almost say that we carry our very own doctor and pharmacy inside us. When testing new medicines, one group of patients...

Fossil Record

Feathered Dinosaurs — Fact or Fiction?

Author:
Ian Taylor

1. Feathers are highly specialized organs and the distinguishing feature of birds. Even the flightless penguin is classified as a bird because of its feathers. Part of the bird’s anatomy is a furcula or “wishbone” and usually a sternum. Birds are warm-blooded and necessarily light-weight, while it was long argued the feathers were not preserved in the fossil record because of their delicate nature. However, “flocks” of genuine fossil birds have recently been discovered in China.

Following the principle that Scripture interprets Scripture, we shall now look at the specific ways in which the word "kind" is used in Scripture, and what definitions and limitations Scripture provides for the word.

The Concept of evolution contains within itself the idea that the world is progressing, getting better and becoming more what it can or should be. If the world evolved from cosmic dust, and life spontaneously arose and developed into ever higher and more complex forms, then that idea would fit. But the world was, we believe and confess, created by our God only a few millennia ago.

God Puts Creative Variety in His Creatures

In pointing to the great variety to be found in living things as evidence for evolution, evolutionists have distracted the world - and sometimes Christians, too - from the fact that this great creative variety is a natural evidence that the Creator deals with all of His creatures on a personal and individual level.

Everything You Want to Know About Dinosaurs

Author:
Ian Taylor

1. What did dinosaurs look like? The great French "father of paleontology," Georges Cuvier (1769-1832), established the method of comparative anatomy. This method depends upon knowing the relationship between living creatures and their skeletons. Then, by similar relationships, extinct creatures can be reasonably reconstructed from their fossil (skeletal) remains.  For example, both the living hippopotamus and its skeleton is known and from this relationship the extinct hippopotamus (Hippopotmus gorgops) was reconstructed.

Pre-Adamic Man

Author:
Ian Taylor

Many people hold to the notion that man-like beings existed long before Adam and may even have been his contemporary. The idea is usually hazy and half-formed, while comfort is drawn from the fact that many of the spiritual giants of Christendom have given their approval to pre-Adamic or pre-Adamite man. Those seeking biblical support admit this is not explicit but point out that the Bible makes no claim to be a complete record of the history of the world.

The Archaeopteryx

Archaeopteryx specimen1. Archaeopteryx means "early wing" and is the paleontologist's Rosetta stone seemingly providing the perfect evidence for the otherwise elusive transition creatures which should fill the rocks with their fossil remains. First discovered in 1861, it is the purported transition between the dinosaur and the bird; seven specimens are claimed to exist.

Those Fascinating Dinosaurs

Author:

Ica stone depicting dinosaursDinosaurs hold a particular fascination for many people, particularly children, and the great beasts have come to exemplify a pre-historic Reptile Age of 60 million years ago. These vast ages are essential for the theory of evolution and any evidence that suggests that some of those creatures from the Age of Reptiles are still alive puts into question the millions of years of their supposed extinction.

The Creation of Man

Author:
Paul A. Bartz

Genesis 1 gives us an overview of the creation of everything, including man. But man is of such importance in the creation (a point which evolutionists deny), that God uses most of Chapter 2 to focus in on additional details on the creation of the humankind. We can learn a lot about who and what man is from these details. Before going any further with the study read Genesis 2:7-25 to get an overview of our topic.

Fossil Man

Author:

Neanderthal skullIntroduction. The study of early man is known as paleoanthropology and, although scientific techniques are used, this discipline deals with non-repeatable and non-observable events of the past and by definition cannot be considered as a science. The exercise begins by assuming that man evolved from the animal Kingdom then looking for evidence that would confirm it.

Living Fossils

Author:
Ian Taylor

MammothWhen claims are made that certain animals known only by their fossils are "extinct," all that is really meant is that no living specimens have been found. For example, the oceans are the least explored area of this planet and undoubtedly contain many creatures that are passing into extinction without ever having been discovered. The plesiosaur may possibly be one such example.

Trust is an important concept in science. Most people believe that scientists strive for truth. But if scientists make sensitive and not-explicitly-mentioned initial assumptions, how much can you trust their conclusions?

Dinosaurs in the Bible?

Author:
Brad T. Bromling

Does the Bible mention dinosaurs specifically? A study of two Hebrew words (behemoth and leviathan) opens the door to that possibility. There are three possible explanations for the identity of these creatures: (1) they were unreal, mythological creatures; (2) they were non-dinosaurian creatures (living or extinct) that can be identified in the ecosystem of the ancient world; or (3) they were now-extinct creatures that are classified as dinosaurs.

Dr. Donald Johanson Brings His Unique Brand of "Science" to the University of Missouri

On November 20, 1986 several CSA members had the rather dubious pleasure of joining 800 other folks at UMKC to learn why LUCY, a "3,000,000 year old" chimpanzee, was really our ancestor; rather than the assorted apes exhumed by the Leakey family. Donald Johanson, of Stanford University, opened with a few persuasive remarks about how all science is very tentative and "paleoanthropology" is even more tentative than most (All he has to work with are pieces of rock and lots of imagination).
