Life on Earth ... and Elsewhere

A new legless amphibian named Chikilidae has recently been discovered in Northeast India that is unique from anything previously found.(1) DNA testing suggests that the Chikilidae is related to another similar species found in Africa. It has been suggested that the two species’ paths split some 140 million years ago when the larger land mass called Gondwana broke apart into the present-day Africa, Australia, South America and India.

Global warming - is it really happening?

Not according to a recent statement by one of the leading global warming proponents. James Lovelock(1), the father of the Gaia Theory, recently commented on MSNBC that he and others were “alarmist” in predicting that the earth would heat up causing massive death and destruction. This hasn’t happened, and he admits that he made a mistake. He still believes it will happen, “but it’s been deferred a bit.” He also admitted that “we don’t know what the climate is doing.”

We should look at the world around us, use good science and interpret what we see in the light of Scripture. Does Scripture give us any clues as to what we are investigating? If so, we shouldn’t ignore it but use it to help us interpret our observations.
