"And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven."
Aluminum, the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust, is usually thought to be poisonous to life. When aluminum becomes too concentrated in soil, it will greatly reduce crop yield. No known living...
"And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."
We have always been told that it takes millions of years for muddy deposits to turn into rock. Those who believe in creation have always disagreed. It seems pretty clear to us that much of the sedimentary rock we see today was deposited during the Great Flood at the time of Noah, which was not millions of years ago. Creationists generally place the Flood at about 4,600 years ago. Until recently, evolutionists dismissed this date as impossible: sedimentary rocks simply could not form that fast. Well, now it seems that they spoke too soon.
"In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened."
Miles deep within the Earth, heat and pressure force water out of certain minerals, changing or metamorphosing the rock. All the textbooks say that it takes millions of years for such metamorphic rock to form. New research shows pretty convincingly that all the textbooks are wrong.
"If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be."
Axel Heiberg Island in Northern Canada is the closest point of land to the North Pole. The landscape is completely barren today, but long ago a dense forest of large meta-sequoia trees grew there. At that time, the climate must have been like Florida today. The stumps of these "fossil trees" have not mineralized and are still wood – that is, cellulose. They are claimed to be 45 million years old.
"But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee."
There are over 350 species of shark. These remarkable creatures range from about the size of a shrimp to the whale shark that can be over 60 feet long. Most people view sharks as an ancient form of primitive fish, often because they are popularly presented to the public as a so-called "living fossil."
"It [wisdom] cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire."
Because half of the radioactive carbon-14 in anything decays to nonradioactive material in 5,730 years, things that are supposedly millions of years old cannot possibly have any. At least that's what evolutionary scientists always thought.
"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."
Radioactive carbon, carbon-14, accumulates in all living things when alive. Once they die, half of any given amount of carbon-14 in a once-living thing decays to non-radioactive nitrogen in 5,730 years. Thus, by measuring the amount of carbon-14 left in a once-living thing, scientists can get a rough idea of when it died. It can be used to date things that are only thousands of years old, not millions.
“As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.”
Have you ever been in a cave? If you have, perhaps someone has told you that the rock formations hanging from the ceiling – called stalactites – are thousands or even tens of thousands of years old. Scientists tell us that stalactites take 100 years, on the average, to grow one inch. But just how accurate is this figure?
“... the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.”
How long does it take for large mineral formations to form? While evolutionists say millions of years, creationists assume that most of the rock formations we see formed relatively quickly as the waters of the Genesis flood receded.
“But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.”
It was the largest bird that ever lived. It stood 10-12 feet tall and could easily outrun a horse. Being a meat-eater, this fossil bird, which has been nicknamed “terror bird,” possibly did chase horses and bring them down with its sharp talons. The only thing that limited this creature’s terrible abilities was its inability to fly.
“And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.”
According to the Bible, God created the land-living insects, and that would include the bees, on day six of creation. This was just three days after He created the flowering plants. According to evolution, bees evolved from a simpler insect after the pollen-bearing plants had developed. The specialized bee and its complex social structure was thought to have taken a long time to evolve.
"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost."
One of the most important differences between man's word and God's Word is that man's word can sometimes be true, while God's Word is always true.
"So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
There is a universe of difference between saying that man was created by God, in the image of God, and saying that man is nothing more than a hairless ape. And the fact that man is not covered with hair like the ape has led to a weird, new twist in the theory of evolution.
"For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work."
In 1912 Charles Dawson announced the discovery of Piltdown man to the world. Piltdown man was a half-human, half ape-like creature which was offered as proof that man was nothing more than a glorified ape. Today, everyone knows that Piltdown man was a fraud.
"And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it."
Evolutionary theory says that man only developed farming recently in his history. Besides going against common sense, this evolutionary idea is beginning to cause problems with the greatly inflated evolutionary dating system.
