Gary's comments are right on! One cannot say they truly believe God's word, and yet "interpret" it to mean something that it clearly does not mean. (A day is a 24-hour period, spelled out plainly in Gen. 1). If you don't want to believe it, then please be genuine and say you don't.
Perhaps I'm too simple to follow some arguments, but through this website and others, I've learned there is ample evidence for a young earth (and God can say what He means!).
