With all due respect, John, it's you who are reading the Bible with blinders on — if you're reading it at all.

God is a defender of the weak and the helpless. As a just God, he cannot allow the wicked to oppress others. He gives them every opportunity to repent, as he did at Nineveh, but when they rebel, he removes his protection.

You cannot cite cases in which the wicked willingly embraced destruction rather than righteousness and say the Lord was evil for letting them have their desires. Those who sow evil reap it. When people pursue courses directly opposite to the cause of righteousness, they have no right to blame God when things don't go the way they planned. God doesn't force us to choose the right path. We have to choose it ourselves. If we want to run off into the bramble, we're bound to get burned.

Hey, if you want to jump off the cliff of atheism, don't complain about what it's like when you hit bottom. You're the one who picked that course of action.
