Books That Ruined the World

The Creation Moments Facebook group is a great place to discuss many different topics about biblical creation, evolution and worldview issues. Recently we started a discussion called "Books That Ruined the World" … and began the discussion with this:

"I thought it would be interesting and informative to start a discussion about the books that have done the most harm in the world. For me, Darwin's Origin of Species would be at the top of my list. Not only has it been instrumental in sending untold millions to a Christless eternity, it has been responsible in part for racism, the Holocaust and many other atrocities, committed under the philosophy of "survival of the fittest." Most of all, the book has spawned generations of atheists."

Many other books have been nominated for the list of books that ruined the world, including: Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf, The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, The Kinsey Report by Alfred Kinsey, Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, Democracy and Education by John Dewey, The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan, Beyond Good and Evil by Freidrich Nietzsche, The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money by John Maynard Keynes, The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, and many others.

Why did we want to draw attention to such horrible books? Because the ideas contained in them are giving direction to many of our world leaders, and we need to recognize where such ideas came from. Most important, though, is that our children are being taught these ideas in their classrooms and in today's culture.

What books would YOU add to this list of books that ruined the world?
