I believe, as you do, that we are entirely unique in the universe. That does not, however, preclude life from existing elsewhere. If life did exist anywhere other than on earth then it would be animalistic at best, or possibly something that we cannot quite imagine. It would not be "sentient" life though - that is reserved for us, mankind, only. We are created in God's image, to follow, worship and love God. Now, I am not saying or even imagining that any life (as we know it) exists anywhere beyond earth... but I would not say it is entirely impossible. Who knows what God has in store for us in eternity...?
