I'm not Rod, but I think I can help you.

You somehow missed the answer to your question. The answer to your question is in the phrase that you placed in quotes ("rapid mountain formation"). Everest of the past is not Everest of today. The flood event produced the mountains of today which explains quite effectively why we can find marine fossils on mountaintops.
