"The creation testifies to incredible creativity from a Master Designer and Builder."

Mark CadwalladerViewpoint of Mark Cadwallader, Creation Moments Board Chairman

Early in the ministry of Jesus, He was asked to read in the synagogue of Nazareth, so He read from Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me … to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,” Luke 4:18. And Jesus went on to tell the synagogue congregation that He Himself on that day fulfilled the scripture from Isaiah 61.

Jesus identified Himself as the fulfillment of messianic prophecy – the Anointed One. As the Messiah, He would, among other things, set people free from bondage and bring sight to blind eyes. He does this not only literally, but figuratively. Those of us who become Christians receive an ability to perceive life through an awakened, born-again spirit. Faith in Christ brings an ability to see the Lord’s hand, and presence of love, grace, and beauty in a sin-sick world.

As the group The Newsboys writes in the lyrics of their song “In Wonder”:

I consider all that your hands have made
Every newborn’s eyes, every new sunrise
No power can tame your presence
No light can match your radiance.

Let all creation sing in wonder
Every sea, every creature, every star
You opened up my eyes to wonder
What a vision, what a wonder you are.

The creation testifies to incredible creativity from a Master Designer and Builder. It testifies of God. The same building blocks of elements and atoms are made into a tremendous variety of molecules that form a myriad diversity of things – living and non-living – which interact and depend on one another in many intricate ways. Our Great Creator is clearly Super-Creative. And this Creativity relates to the Super Degree-of-Freedom which He has to express Himself.

As Christians, we are in a position to receive increasing measures of grace to feel God’s love and express it. This not only brings clearer vision to see more of God’s goodness in Creation and more of God’s goodness in the beauty of His presence, but it brings freedom (“deliverance to the captives” and “liberty” for the “bruised”) – freedom from condemnation, guilt, shame, rejection and fear.

In math and science, there is a concept called “degrees of freedom”. Simple, restricted or bound objects have just a few “degrees” of freedom of movement. Complex molecules, on the other hand – due to the rotation, translation and vibration of each individual atom within the molecule – have very high numbers of “degrees” of freedom.

I like this principle for spiritual purposes as well. God has the capacity for a tremendously high degree of freedom. You can see it in His Super-Creativity. And He makes freedom the messianic promise to a humanity which is bound by the chains of darkness.

As Christians, we have the ability to move into ever-increasing degrees of freedom through God’s power in our lives. We can experience a few degrees of freedom in Christ, or we can experience many degrees of freedom.

This is brought out, for example, in the apostle Paul’s exhortation of Philippians 3:12-14, “…not as though I had already attained… but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which I am apprehended of Christ Jesus … I press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” – of bringing our earthly “condition” into alignment with our heavenly “position” in Christ. We can all press on to higher and higher degrees of freedom in God and to greater and greater degrees of victory over the chains that bind us.

God’s tremendous freedom of expression is increasingly apparent as we learn more and more about the biological diversity in the creation all around us. Modern science is finding an ever-increasing amount of creative diversity in both the plant and animal kingdoms. Some regions of the world – such as the Amazon Basin – have an incredible array of flora and fauna. The similarities of shape and appearance – which evolutionists used to confidently assume as arguing in their favor – are now showing quite a lot of actual dissimilarity from the basis of genetic science. This information also argues in favor of God, the Creator Almighty.

Many of the animals found in the Amazon argue powerfully for a Creator, who exercised His Super-Creativity to design creatures that are clearly the work of a Master Designer. That’s why I’m so excited that Dr. Jobe Martin has just released the fourth volume in his wonderful “Creation Proclaims” video series – The Amazon and Beyond. I hope you will take advantage of the opportunity below for you and your family to learn about the fabulous creatures of the Amazon … and to see how each one glorifies the One who created them!

Now that the new year is underway, I want to thank you once again for supporting Creation Moments with your prayers. Evolutionists and secularists are constantly looking for ways to shut us up … and shut us down. But we’re confident that the God who called us to proclaim His truth will enable us to continue until the Lord of creation returns.
