DNA - one of the most powerful evidences of biblical creation!
Viewpoint of Mark Cadwallader, Creation Moments Board Chairman
“What I discovered astonished me. Over the past 30 years a growing and largely unnoticed body of scientific work shows religious belief is medically, socially, and psychologically beneficial.”
These words were written by Tom Knox, an atheist who became a Christian after intensively researching the medical benefits of faith.
At Creation Moments we know that scriptural truth is vindicated not only in the moral, spiritual and historical arenas, but scientifically as well. It is no wonder that studies correlate Christian faith and prayer to medical, social and psychological benefits.
Prayer does have the power to heal and to change lives. Christian commitment helps people cope with stress better and experience greater well-being because they have more hope and optimism, experience less depression, less anxiety, lower suicide rates, and have stronger immune systems. When Scripture says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control”, medical and psychological benefits follow.
And when it says, “A merry heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit dries out the bones”, the Bible is declaring scientifically profound truth. Not only are we finding increased evidence that a joyful disposition helps folks recover from ailments, but the immune system – which kicks into high gear with a “merry heart” – is derived from healthy bone marrow! How could the writer of ancient times have connected “dry bones” to an emotional state that contrasts with good health except that the Holy Spirit moved him to say it that way?
The Bible is God’s inspired truth, and we benefit by believing it and applying it to our lives. Avoiding God, as the world wants to do, means not only taking Him out of our moral and spiritual lives, but taking Him out of our origins as well – where He lays claim to our moral lives to begin with! The amazing wonder of beauty and design in life clearly points to the super intelligent personality of our great Creator, the living God. It really is quite illogical, indeed ludicrous (Romans 1), to believe otherwise – going against all our experience of cause and effect!
For example, DNA molecules are increasingly showing the evidence of design, resembling super-huge computer programs – describing everything about the development and function of living things. Like computers, the storage of information in DNA is categorized with “folders” of information within other folders, in optimized locations for efficient retrieval. And what used to be thought of as “junk DNA” (seemingly non-coding regions of the DNA molecule) are now being shown to work as a sort of “operating system” for the biological computer.
Researchers from Harvard and Johns Hopkins University have recently created the biotechnical version of an e-reader in DNA. The scientists encoded an entire book – along with illustrations – in the actual DNA molecule itself! The book consists of 53,246 words and 11 JPG images. But this achievement only scratches the surface. Assuming a typical book requires 1 megabyte of data-storage capacity, only one gram of DNA could store 455 trillion books!
The accomplishment further illustrates the logical need for an “Author of DNA” – a Creator! The intelligent information content of DNA’s amino acid code is not just an organic metaphor, as evolutionists try to claim, but is as real as flesh and blood.
Amazingly, simple man-made codes – like S.O.S. signals in Morse Code – are said to indicate intelligent design, while the super-complex biological computers in the organs of plants and animals are said to have evolved by chance from rocks and minerals! As we have previously noted, it takes more faith to believe in evolution than it does in biblical six-day creation!
As those most honest and lucid about it confess, evolution is indeed a matter of their will (faith) rather than a matter of the evidence. For example, Nobel Prize winning biologist George Wald confessed to Scientific American magazine, “I do not want to believe in God. Therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible – spontaneous generation arising to evolution.”
Evolution is a pernicious lie which undermines the knowledge of God in the hearts of people. At Creation Moments we understand this, and we are working day in, day out to bring clarity and truth to millions of people around the world. Thanks to your prayers and financial support, we are reaching atheists with the gospel, and we are showing Christians of all ages how to remain true to their faith in our evolution-saturated culture.
