Up on the Bayou

By a vote of 94-3, Louisiana’s House of Representatives yesterday passed an academic freedom bill that would protect teachers and school districts that promote objective discussion about evolution and other scientific topics. The Louisiana Science Education Act now goes to the Louisiana Senate before becoming law.

Louisiana is one of six states this year that are considering academic freedom legislation that would protect teachers who teach both the scientific strengths and weaknesses of Darwinism. The Discovery Institute points out that at least nine states currently have state or local policies that protect, encourage, and sometimes even require teachers to discuss the scientific evidence for and against Darwinian evolution.

Creation Moments believes it’s absolutely ludicrous that the National Center for Science Education is calling the legislation a “creationism bill”, because it’s nothing of the kind. But what else are you to expect from an organization whose tagline reads: “Defending the Teaching of Evolution in the Public Schools”?

What they really want to do is shut down anyone who can show weaknesses in their beloved theory of evolution. And that, friends, is blatant censorship and just plain wrong.
