Obama, Climate Change and Evolution

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

How very clever that environmentalists have changed “global warming” to “climate change.” This way, they can count on receiving taxpayer money even if the earth is found to be cooling down. As Barack Obama is sworn into office today, we expect that more taxpayer money will be spent to control climate change.

After all, he has selected key advisers who believe strong action is needed to address climate change. In addition to Steven Chu (a climate-change technology advocate) as the next secretary of Energy, he selected Harvard’s John Holdren (a climate and energy expert) as his science adviser and marine biologist Jane Lubchenco to head up the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

We also expect that more taxpayer money will be spent to teach evolution to our kids. As this blog reported previously, Obama believes that evolution alone should be taught in public schools. He told the York Daily Record last August, “I think it’s a mistake to try to cloud the teaching of science with theories that frankly don’t hold up to scientific inquiry.”

So as our new president places his hand on the Bible today and takes the oath of office, we will certainly heed the Bible’s instruction to pray for him. However, we will also be praying specifically that President Obama discovers he’s on the wrong side of both climate change and evolution.

“We’re Smarter Now and Don’t Need a God”

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

For evolutionists, 2009 is a special year of celebration. Not only does 2009 mark the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin, it represents the 150th anniversary of Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. It’s important to remember, though, that this is not just about science. As the science establishment celebrates the life and achievements of Darwin, they are also rejoicing because they believe that evolution delivered the death-blow to God.

Though most evolutionists fully understand this, many Christians still don’t realize that Darwinism and atheism are inextricably intertwined. One of our website visitors summed up the issue quite well in the following e-mail:

“I was struck by your desperate efforts to involve the bible in the debate as if it had some kind of relevance to historical fact and theory. The bible was written by men partly to explain his own origins - now that we’re smarter, we don’t need to refer back to a less knowledgeable time. Please, think for yourselves by looking at and understanding the world around you - we don’t need a god.”

That’s why the battle between creation and evolution is so important and why a ministry like Creation Moments is so vital at a time like this. As the Year of Darwin gets underway, get ready to be bombarded with new TV specials and magazine articles praising the name of Darwin. Help your kids learn how to resist the evolutionary indoctrination they’ll receive at school. And bookmark our website, so you and your family can see where the scientific and historical evidence really points.

Oh, What Tangled Webs They Weave

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

The Associated Press reported today the discovery of the world’s oldest spider web. The web was found encased in a prehistoric piece of amber considered to be 140 million years old.

Now if you’re a card-carrying evolutionist - like any scientist funded by the National Science Foundation - you’d expect the web to be considerably different than the spider webs produced by modern spiders. After all, spiders have had 140 million years to evolve, right? Surely after all that time they would now be producing better spider webs than they did in the ancient past.

Oxford University paleobiologist Martin Brasier said, however, that the strands were linked to each other in the roughly circular pattern familiar to gardeners the world over. “You can match the details of the spider’s web with the spider’s web in my garden,” Brasier said.

In other words, this latest bit of scientific evidence does not point to evolution. Rather, it points to an all-wise Creator. But will evolutionists shrug their shoulders and give up? Don’t bet on it! They’ll keep on using your tax dollars to keep on spinning their webs of mass deception.

Those are our views. What are yours?

Up a Crick Without a Paddle

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Today’s Creation Moment - “The World’s Smallest Computer” - reminds us of the two men who discovered the “DNA computer” back in 1953. When James Watson and Francis Crick discovered the double-helix DNA molecule, it was the best of times and the worst of times for Dr. Crick. Though he enjoyed his worldwide celebrity status, how was he to explain the incredible amount of information encoded in the strands of DNA? A self-described agnostic with “a strong inclination towards atheism,” it was inconceivable to Crick that an intelligent Creator had anything to do with it.

So he resurrected a nifty little idea from the eighteenth century called “panspermia” - a hypothesis that seeds of life exist all over the universe. He postulated that one or more of those seeds hitchhiked a ride to earth on a comet, giving rise to life on our planet. (No, we’re not making this up.)

Of course, panspermia doesn’t even begin to explain how those seeds of life came to be. It just enabled Crick to sidestep the issue and avoid the obvious - that information-laden DNA molecules are far too complex to have arisen by chance and undirected processes.

No “seeds” have ever been found anywhere in the universe. Though panspermia is nothing but pure speculation, Crick’s belief in it underscores the fact that so many scientists today - including evolutionary biologists with their “goo to you” just-so stories - are willing to believe in anything … anything other than God.

Those are our thoughts. What are yours?

Book Review: The Evolution Handbook

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Evolution HandbookWhen we started to read The Evolution Handbook, we figured we’d just skip through all the superfluous material and read the “good stuff.” After all, who has time to read a 992-page book from cover to cover?

We soon discovered, however, that every chapter was just as interesting – and informative – as the chapter before it. Before we knew it, we had read all 992 pages and had underlined hundreds of passages for future reference. Yes, that’s how good it is.

We were delighted to find dozens of fascinating examples of design seen in the animal kingdom – remarkably similar to those we bring you in our “Creation Moments” radio program.

The chapters on fossils, mutations, ancient man and the global flood were particularly informative. So, too, were the thousands of scientific facts that refute evolution, the dozens of evidences that the earth is only a few thousand years old, and the hundreds of quotes from evolutionists that are remarkably frank … and damaging to the cause of evolution!

That’s why Creation Moments is offering The Evolution Handbook for a donation of any amount. We’re offering it through the end of October or while supplies last, so request your copy by calling 1-800-422-4253 or by making a donation online.

New Glue Leaves Evolutionists in a Stickier Position Than Ever!

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

In a Creation Moments program called “Gecko Tape,” we talked about the amazing ability of the gecko to walk up walls and across the ceiling. The gecko can do this because it has tiny hairs, called setae, on its feet. These hairs are so tiny that they actually grip the molecules in the surface of the material upon which the gecko is walking. We also noted that researchers were trying to create a similar type of glue in the lab but had failed. Well, that changed last Thursday (October 9) when researchers reported they had successfully developed a new type of dry glue designed to mimic gecko feet. (more…)

Philosophy Camouflaged to Look Like True Science

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Many people - especially those who believe in creation - resist watching science shows on PBS and the Discovery Channel, because these programs are usually saturated with unscientific claims favoring evolution. However, even Darwinian soapboxes like Nova can be worth watching, just as long as you do so with a discerning eye.

The first thing you have to do is separate the program’s true science from its unfounded Darwinian musings. For example, when the narrator describes a creature as roaming the earth “60 million years ago,” know that you have now left the world of science and are right in the heart of The Darwinist Zone. Such claims are pure conjecture, nothing more. (more…)

Evolution-Creation: Where Do Obama and McCain Stand?

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Come November, which presidential candidate will you vote for? While the candidates’ views on many issues will influence your decision, we hope that one of these issues is their view regarding origins and the teaching of evolution in public schools.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told the York Daily Record his stance on the teaching of evolution: “I’m a Christian, and I believe in parents being able to provide children with religious instruction without interference from the state. But I also believe our schools are there to teach worldly knowledge and science. I believe in evolution, and I believe there’s a difference between science and faith. That doesn’t make faith any less important than science. It just means they’re two different things. And I think it’s a mistake to try to cloud the teaching of science with theories that frankly don’t hold up to scientific inquiry.” (Emphasis added)

Republican presidential candidate John McCain takes a somewhat different approach. At a 2007 debate at St. Anselm College, McCain was asked if creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the nation’s schools. His response: “No, I believe that’s up to the school districts. But I think that every American should be exposed to all theories. There’s no doubt in my mind that the hand of God was in what we are today. And I do believe that we are unique, and I believe that God loves us. But I also believe that all of our children in school can be taught different views on different issues. I leave the curricula up to the school boards.” (Emphasis added)

And we leave your choice of candidate up to you.

As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Creation Moments cannot and does not endorse any candidate.

“We’re Here to Evolve,” Says Oprah

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Speaking at the Stanford commencement last week was Oprah Winfrey – a superstar with so much fame and power, she’s known simply by her first name. When the senior class presidents first heard that Oprah was selected to speak, they said: “We look forward to hearing her thoughts about meeting life’s challenges and making a difference in the world.”

And what thoughts did she share?
