“We’re Here to Evolve,” Says Oprah

Speaking at the Stanford commencement last week was Oprah Winfrey – a superstar with so much fame and power, she’s known simply by her first name. When the senior class presidents first heard that Oprah was selected to speak, they said: “We look forward to hearing her thoughts about meeting life's challenges and making a difference in the world.”
And what thoughts did she share?
For years Oprah has been preaching reincarnation and other New Age philosophies from her TV pulpit … so it came as no surprise to hear her speaking about “evolving” as well. Oprah told the grads they need to “walk through life, eager and open to self-improvement and that which is going to best help you evolve, because that’s really why we’re here – to evolve as human beings.”
That’s why we’re here? Well, many of us think we’re here to glorify God – the one who made us. But for Oprah, life is all about us. We glorify ourselves by evolving into better people. Unfortunately, that’s the kind of thinking that destroys the need for the God of the Bible. And that’s why we feel that Stanford University did their graduating class a huge disservice by sending them out into the world with such a foolish parting message.
