Today's Creation Moment

Not a Fish Lizard
Genesis 1:20
“And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.”
Like so many children over the last century, I was given a book about dinosaurs when I was a small boy. This book contained references to a number of extinct creatures other than dinosaurs, and one...

“We’re Smarter Now and Don’t Need a God”

For evolutionists, 2009 is a special year of celebration. Not only does 2009 mark the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin, it represents the 150th anniversary of Darwin's On the Origin of Species. It's important to remember, though, that this is not just about science. As the science establishment celebrates the life and achievements of Darwin, they are also rejoicing because they believe that evolution delivered the death-blow to God.

Though most evolutionists fully understand this, many Christians still don't realize that Darwinism and atheism are inextricably intertwined. One of our website visitors summed up the issue quite well in the following e-mail:

"I was struck by your desperate efforts to involve the bible in the debate as if it had some kind of relevance to historical fact and theory. The bible was written by men partly to explain his own origins - now that we're smarter, we don't need to refer back to a less knowledgeable time. Please, think for yourselves by looking at and understanding the world around you - we don't need a god."

That's why the battle between creation and evolution is so important and why a ministry like Creation Moments is so vital at a time like this. As the Year of Darwin gets underway, get ready to be bombarded with new TV specials and magazine articles praising the name of Darwin. Help your kids learn how to resist the evolutionary indoctrination they'll receive at school. And bookmark our website, so you and your family can see where the scientific and historical evidence really points.

I agree with Professor Agassiz, who says: If you read Darwin's books, Darwin directly, you can see that he was never opposed to the idea of Creation. Never. He was always opposed to the idea of individual species being created by God or by Someone, separately rather than being the result of a transformation. What happens nowadays? Unfortunately once again in the United States there is a minority of fundamentalist Evangelicals, seeking to take the Bible word for word, as a discourse that tells us how the world was created. They call themselves creationists. Once again the term has been seized for another use. The term "creationists" does not mean in the slightest that the book of Genesis should be taken as a true story about the Cosmos. But for them it does. They say yes, here is something that at the very least should be taught alongside the theory of evolution. Once again a mistake has been made. And people say, Creationists are enemies of science and enemies of Evolution.

How can you not be opposed to Creation overall, and yet be opposed to the Creation of individual species? I don't understand that at all. It sounds very contradictory.

During the year 2009 – the "Year of Darwin" – it is important for Christians to understand that Darwin was opposed to both creationism and the Bible.

Take a look, for example, at the very last sentence of the 1859 edition of Darwin's Origin: "There is a grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed [by the Creator] into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being, evolved." At the insistence of T. H. Huxley and other advisors, the bracketed words were added to the third edition in 1861. It was pointed out to Darwin that the entire tone of his book was so anti-Christian that his message would be lost to the powerful Christian lobby of the day unless he paid some kind of lip-service to the Creator.

For a fine view of Darwin's irreligious nature, read the restored edition of his autobiography: The Autobiography of Charles Darwin, 1809-1882 with original omissions restored. Darwin had written his autobiography in his last days for the benefit of his family; they, in turn, published it, although in expurgated form, in 1885. The parts omitted were considered to be offensive and would cause the general public to reject the Darwin name, the man and his message. Here is an example of an expurgated passage:

"I had gradually come, by this time, to see that the Old Testament, from its manifestly false history of the world … was no more to be trusted than the sacred books of the Hindus, or the beliefs of any barbarian…. Thus disbelief crept over me at a slow rate, but was at last complete. I can hardly see how anyone ought to wish Christianity to be true …"

What fault do we have if the Book of Genesis is in agreement with the observations? If the Bible is the Word of God, why shouldn't we take it as True? Does God lie? Does God know "modern science"?

Evolution is an anachronistic, antiquated viewpoint that's not new at all. Evolutionists like to say they are scientifically accurate and on the cutting-edge of research. What they are actually doing is throwing common sense away and running after heathenistic ideas that are as old as sin.

Not long ago, people thought that life burst spontaneously from nonliving matter. For example, it was thought that garbage produced flies. We now know this is nonsense. Flies produce flies, and they often feed on garbage. That's what today's believers in evolution are doing: feeding on garbage.

So you want to talk science? Let's go with real observational science, which shows that mutations are harmful to life, rather than salubrious. Let's look at real life, which shows species replicating themselves after their own kind. Let's go to the Sequoia Caverns, where stalactites are growing as rapidly as 300 feet in a few thousand years. Let's go to the area of of Mt. St. Helens, where Loowit Falls has carved a canyon in hardrock in less than a decade. Let's look at the real world instead of feeding on garbage spewed out by spin doctors.

Why should the evidence we can see with our eyes be discarded in favor of embracing pagan views in the unseen magic that supposedly existed millions of years ago? Evolutionists are just making up stories that can't be substantiated. If cornered, an evolutionist will admit evolution is not taking place today, but still insist that it took place in the past. Natural law is a constant. If evolution took place before, it would be happening now. The next litter of kittens could look more like mice. But it doesn't happen. It isn't real. So evolutionists have to add the magical ingredient of millions of years, as if this potion will produce the hocus pocus necessary for life.

Are time and chance our new gods? They are if you want to wallow in ignorance. But I, for one, refuse to bow down and worship the Jurassic period.
