Today's Creation Moment

Who was First to North America?
Genesis 1:28
“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth...”
The conventional understanding has always been that North America was populated by people who crossed from Asia to Alaska via the Bering Strait and then migrated down the West Coast. Eventually, some...

When Education Goes Horribly Wrong

According to studies conducted a few years ago, the average science score of U.S. students lagged behind those in 16 of 30 countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, a Paris-based group that represents the world's richest countries.

Naturally, the educational establishment blamed creationism for the students' poor performance! Where's the "cause and effect" in that? Evolutionists have a firm hold on what is being taught in public schools – not creationists! Nevertheless, evolutionists are tightening their grip on the minds of our young people. And this is something that should concern every Christian parent.

As the saying goes, "garbage in, garbage out." When students are fed a constant diet of junk food, their health deteriorates. Similarly, when students are taught nothing but naturalistic (atheistic) evolution at school, many will become atheists who don't even know the difference between a fact, a theory and a hypothesis. Plus, when students are taught in science class that they are animals, they will behave that way.

Poor education can even be a matter of life and death. In an 8-31-10 story titled "Simulator training flaws tied to airline crashes," USA Today reported: "More than half of the 522 fatalities in U.S. airline accidents since 2000 have been linked to problems with simulators, devices that are used nearly universally to train the nation's airline pilots, the records show."

One example cited by the newspaper was the crash of an American Airlines plane on November 12, 2001. The pilot's aggressive use of the rudder caused the jet to break apart, killing 265 people. The National Transportation Safety Board found that American Airlines' simulator exercise had given pilots a false sense of how the rudders worked. When pilot training goes bad, lives are lost. And when evolution is taught, young people no longer have a rudder to make it safely through this life or the next.

Since students are not getting the science education they need, Creation Moments believes it is the responsibility of every Christian parent to teach biblical creation to their children at home. Fortunately, there are many excellent DVDs and books available from Creation Moments. If you'd like help in selecting resources for your children, call 1-800-422-4253 during regular office hours.

When you teach someone that he has no moral responsibility to God because there is no God, everything goes wrong from that point. Once he's accepted that, what else can you teach him? His mind will be lost in a morass of darkness. He needs no responsibility, for he is the ultimate authority in all things. If there is nothing higher than man's learning, why bother seeking wisdom? He'll fall into arrogance and indolence of thought.

Just as an airplane needs to be guided by instructions from the tower, we need to be led by instructions from our Divine Guide. Cut that off, and you're going to crash into something. Blaming creationists for the decline in education is like blaming the cure for the disease.

You never really know what life is about until you know your Savior. Trying to navigate through life without him is like trying to fly a plane without a rudder. You're bound to smash into things and get hurt. Secular learning is constantly teaching and teaching and never actually getting anywhere because it leaves out the one essential to education: a knowledge of the Lord God Jesus Christ and his offer of salvation to all who will come to him in humility. With secular learning, you're like a pilot without a guidance system and without the ability to steer the plane in the right direction. You're headed for a big disaster. You've got to hear from the Lord if you're going to steer clear of danger. Raising a whole generation of Americans without this essential knowledge is making our nation feeble and weak.

We should teach our children the word of God at home as it says in Deuteronomy 6:1-9, and 11:18-23. The word of God has all things that pertain to life and godliness as stated in II Peter 1:2-3. We should also teach the kids to obey, John 14:15, Acts 5:29, and Ephesians 6:1 so that they can learn to obey God.

As Michael pointed out, if we don't teach children the word of God, then they will not be prepared for life. When challenges come along, they will not know the strength that is to be found in their God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Excluding the Bible from the classroom is the worst thing that has happened to education in the history of the United States. It is the reason why we are now seeing so many illiterate students in our classrooms, students who can't even understand Patrick Henry's famous speech, "Give me Liberty, or give me Death!" It's no wonder we have economic problems in America. With a whole generation taught to disdain God, we've got no foundation on which to build our prosperity.

In addition, and in the true spirit of Scriptural teaching, a creationist approach to science encourages critical evaluation of the facts and the narrative written around them. For example, a fossil is a fact. When that creature lived is the narrative. When biological material is found in partially fossilized material (as has happened several times), we need to critically examine the narrative about when it lived when it is claimed the creature lived millions of years ago. We know biological material would not remain intact for that length of time.

But since the "scientific consensus" is evolution, some evolutionists are proposing that biological material can escape decay over tens of millions of years. Creationists look at such a claim and consider it contrary to what science knows otherwise. In short, we evaluate the world's conclusions in light of the fact that we know that humans can err and Scripture cannot.

The educational establishment is certainly wrong in tying our students' poor performance to their learning creation, for, as this piece shows, they are not learning creation in the public schools of today. But creationists are also wrong in suggesting that students will do better if they learn about creation, because the foreign schools that are beating us teach evolution just like our public schools do

What a concise and wise observation of a major problem today, and yet so many Christians dismiss origins as a side issue. Satan rubs his hands together with glee! Kids in churches are growing up with a Jesus who has no foundation, no purpose, no relevance and no authority if the first chapters of the Bible, are not historic fact. Until we start to see the teaching of evolution as pagan and in direct violation to everything Christian, we will continue to not only miss a major evangelism opportunity, but we will also lose our own people! "Thy word is truth!"

I am sorry to report that many "Christian" schools lack faith in God which reflects in their teaching of evolution. They often feel insecure teaching science and indicate that no one really knows for sure. Interpretations vary and suggest that it could have taken millions of years and the order of Creation doesn't matter. They are backsliding with this approach. They are priming our children to put their faith in man rather than in God. It's happening in MOST "Christian" schools.
