NASA – The "Glory" Has Departed

Some of you who are reading this are too young to remember the glory days of NASA – when the U.S. space agency put a man into Earth orbit and, a few years later, on the surface of the moon. NASA had brains and guts in those days – as evidenced by the remarkable story of Apollo 13 … or when astronauts weren't afraid to read passages from Scripture in their transmissions from space.

All of that has changed. Thanks to the Obama administration, NASA is charged with the responsibility of helping Muslims feel better about their scientific accomplishments. NASA is also trying to find life on other planets to prove that evolution can happen anywhere. And the space agency is spending millions of taxpayer dollars to prove that man-made global warming is real.

So how are these missions working out? Well, last week a NASA rocket, carrying a satellite called Glory, was launched, only to plummet a few minutes later into the Pacific Ocean. So sad, considering that its mission was to gather data supporting man-made global warming!

According to the Associated Press, the Glory represents "the second-straight blow to NASA's weakened environmental monitoring program. The same thing happened to another climate-monitoring satellite two years ago with the same type of rocket." A NASA official noted that "the loss of Glory will mostly hurt projections and modeling of future climate change."

Creation Moments hastens to add that the loss of Glory will also hurt U.S. taxpayers. In an economy that's already gasping for breath, a $424 million rocket and satellite are now gathering barnacles at the bottom of the Pacific.

Truth be told, the glory departed from NASA long ago when it became focused on missions in support of politically correct yet nonsensical pseudo-science. Yes, NASA has accomplished many amazing things, and we pray that someday the agency's former glory will return.

One place to cut federal expenditures is for useless research on global warming and alien life. What a ridiculous waste. Then there are all the millions of dollars spent to launch a satellite that is supposed to monitor the climate, and the satellite doesn't even make it into space.

Yeah, I'd cut back NASA expenditures. They might as well just take pictures of space since that appears to be the only useful thing they're still doing.

As far as Americans paying tax dollars to make Muslims feel more scientific, that's just utterly insane. Every dime we pay should go to help America stay great, not to elevate other nations above her.

Sure. This makes me feel so good about paying my taxes. And this year I supposedly owe a big chunk because I took on extra jobs. The government robs the poor working slob so it can waste money on crap like this. It stinks.

The US government does that because all on Capital Hill think everyone outside the Beltway is a slob and should be treated as such.

Dont fret about how your tax dollars are spent. 95% of Federal tax revenue is spent on Transfer payments. The money to support the projects of the Federal government is borrowed, passing along the cost of NASA and all other programs to future taxpayers.

The big thing now is climate change. Any kind of climate change. That way the people with their grubby fingers in our pockets have covered all their bases. As long as the climate is changing anywhere in the world, they can claim their existence is justified.

P.S. I heard that there's an Institute of Climate Change somewhere in California. Can you believe such nonsense?

I used to be a big NASA fan, but I have to admit that now it's nothing but a drain on American resources.

America isn't America anymore. We can't be proud of our accomplishments. We can't be first in science or in space. No, we have to kowtow to other nations — as long as they aren't Christian — and deny our Christian heritage. It's disgusting.

I don't even know why we have NASA anymore. What is the point? If its directive is to help Muslims feel better about their science accomplishments, then what good is that? What does that have to do with space? If NASA can't to do its job (which is to be the National Aeronautics and Space Administration), then it might as well be eliminated.

Get a copy of Dave Hunt's 2010 book, Cosmos, Creator and Human Destiny and read the first chapter and you'll get a great argument for why we should shut down NASA this very hour as its goal isn't to obtain any information we can use for the betterment of life on Earth.

Just as the glory of Israel departed when they turned away from the Lord, so too has the glory departed from America now that she denies her God, Jesus Christ. He is the King of Heaven who delivered us out of the hands of the oppressors, and yet now he is legislated against everywhere you go. NASA astronauts would never quote scriptures now. This is not America anymore.

Frank Borman, looking down on the earth from beyond its orbit, radioed back a message from Genesis One: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." As he later explained, "I had an enormous feeling that there had to be a power greater than any of us -- that there was a God, that there was indeed a beginning."

Buzz Aldrin quoted the Bible, after Apollo 11's landing: "I am the vine and you are the branches... Whoever remains in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For you can do nothing without me."

Then James Irwin, who walked on the moon and later said, "I felt the power of God as I'd never felt it before."

Charles Duke, who also went to the moon, later spread the Lord's gospel. He explained, "I make speeches about walking ON the moon and walking WITH the Son [of God]."

They just don't make astronauts like they used to.

The government sure knows how to waste our money during this time of economic woe.

Do you know what a good investment is for our taxpayers' dollars? It's getting the Bible back into American classrooms.

We need parents who will teach their children at home about God, then the children can talk about God to others. God gives children to parents and expects parents to bring them up in the way they should go. Fathers are to be the head of his home, mothers are to be a helpmate, children are to learn.

AMEN to that comment about a good investment for our taxpayer dollars is to get Bibles back into American classrooms!! That's the best idea in a long time! We desperately need the Word of God in our classrooms. As for the other religions, America is a Christian nation and founded by men of faith who feared God and set up the nation to prosper as long as Christ is honored and obeyed; so, if you are of some other religious persuasion, take a look at the claims of Jesus Christ and come to know the Truth. Separation of church and state? It's not in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution, but yeah, on Sundays they worshiped at the church buildings and on the workdays, they worked and the way they worked honored God. Scripture says whatever you do, do all as unto the Lord, so if we do our jobs as unto the Lord, we will excel since we should obviously give our very best to God.

God save America from the evil liberal statists in power and also from Christians' apathy. God grant America whole-hearted repentance and by Your kindness lead us into repentance. God send revival and revive our hearts; refresh us with streams of living water from Your gracious hands. Thank you, Lord.

It would be hard to see the glory of the heavens up close like astronauts can and yet be prohibited from praising the Lord. But that's exactly the situation we have. In today's world, there would surely be a stink if an astronaut publicly gave glory to the God of Creation, Jesus Christ.

Suggestion: Why not launch Obama into space?

Do you really think the downfall of NASA started with Obama?

Do you remember the Mars mission? Millions of dollars. For what? Martian dirt.

The mission of NASA has miserably failed. The resources that God has put in this earth overwhelm any possible benefit we could derive from traveling tens of thousands of miles to spin around in dust.

All we have to realize is that EVERYTHING we need for human life, love and liberty are on this planet, and you will see that NASA has outlived it usefulness.

Excellent article! While I was unaware that two missions to study global warming have failed, it reminded me of an account in the Bible when the pagan idol Dagon fell over on its face twice before the ark of God (1 Sam 5).

I did not know all of this! Why has this not been reported?. I am also so grieved by the arrogance and rebellion against our Heavenly Father who sees and knows it all. Often I will say "sorry God" when I hear, see, watch or read what denies Him. I especially apologize when I hear the weather reporters say 'mother nature'. We weep for the lost. I want to pray the real waste of this be exposed by the media. Let's ask God to turn public opinion against such foolishness for our sake. Thanks for this ministry. Winnie
