Q. How do I go to the devotional for today's date?
A. When you first begin, you will be on a page showing the names of all the months. Press the month. On the next screen, press the date. Note that the app will save your place. The next time you open the app, you will be on the same page you were on when you closed it. To go to the previous day's devotional, press the Previous button at the bottom of the current devotional page. To go to the next day's devotional, press the Next button at the bottom of the page.
Q. How do I get to the toolbar so I can leave notes, change the font size, etc.?
A. To open the toolbar, press the triangle icon at the bottom of your screen. To close the toolbar, press the triangle again.
Q. How do I change the font size?
A. To change the font size, drag the Font Size slider from left to right.
Q. How do I change the font style?
A. You have two options for the font: Arial and Times New Roman. To change the font style, touch the gear-shaped icon at the bottom of your screen (second from the right). Make your selection by touching the style. Then press the Back button.
Q. How do I change the lighting for night reading?
A. Open the toolbar and then press the icon on the far right at the bottom of your screen. Each time you press it, you will toggle your screen from night to normal reading.
Q. How do I create a voice note?
A. If you are using an iPod Touch, you will need to purchase a microphone that's compatible with your device or the Apple headphones with a built-in microphone. To create a voice note, press the red circle and start speaking. When you are done, press the square icon. To play back your note, press the Play button. To delete your note, press the – button. Keep in mind that your voice note is kept on the devotional page that was open at the time you recorded it. You can leave as many notes as you desire.
Q. How does the Bookmark feature work?
A. When you're reading a devotional you'd like to bookmark, press the triangle at the bottom of your screen to open the toolbar, press the + to create a bookmark for the devotional, and then press the triangle again to close the toolbar. To go to the bookmark you've just created, go back to the screen on the screen that shows all the months (press Paragraphs and then Chapters). You'll then see a book icon in the upper left. This is where you'll find any bookmarks you've created. Press on one to go directly to that devotional.
Q. How do I delete a bookmark?
A. Swipe your finger from left to right over the bookmark you wish to delete. Then press the Delete button.
Q. How does the Search feature work?
A. The search feature finds the word you enter throughout the entire app. Start a search by pressing the magnifying glass icon in the upper right of your screen. Enter one or more words in the search field. Then press the Next button to find the Next button to find the word within the devotional that you're currently reading. Each time you press Next, you'll go to the next use of the word on the page. By pressing the More button, you'll be shown all the devotional pages where the search term appears, along with a brief excerpt from each page. Press any of them to go to the page, and you'll see the word highlighted in yellow.
Q. How do I create a new note using the Notes feature?
A. Open the toolbar by pressing the triangle icon at the bottom of the screen. Then press the icon showing a pencil in a square. When you touch anywhere in the writing area, you'll be able to start typing your note. When you're finished, press the Back button and then close the toolbar by pressing the triangle icon. Your note is saved with the particular devotional page. To delete the note, press the Remove button at the top right of the Notes page.
Q. What is the icon in the middle of the toolbar?
A. The icon lets you lock and unlock the orientation of your screen. The default position will be unlocked, letting you switch the screen from portrait to landscape depending on the position of your device. If you want to lock your position to either portrait or landscape, hold your device so that it's in the position you prefer. Then press the icon to lock it into that position.
